- A litter box should be at least 16 by 22 inches.
- Make sure that the sides are low enough for a kitten to easily climb into
- If you use a liner make sure that it is nice and tight so that your cat does not catch its claws on it.
- If you have a cover on the litter box make sure that it is wide and spacious so that your cat has room to move around inside.
- The litter should be 2 to 4 inches deep and most cats prefer finer grains of litter.
- Clean the litter box regularly. Cats are fastidious and if the litter box is not kept up to scratch then your cat may choose somewhere else to go.
- Situate the litter box in a quiet, private place,that is easily accessible to your cat at all times.
- Do not scent the litter as this may be objectionable to your cat and cause it to go elsewhere.
